Talon
After fighting off storm after storm over the last couple of months and then going from storm fighting to an absolutely gorgeous day, that would rival one sent down even in August. We are now faced with having the superb Talon who will be blowing us away tomorrow evening.
Talon have been voted by the industry as the ‘OFFICIAL No 1′ Eagles Tribute Show at the UK TRIBUTE AWARDS 2013.
We are extremely privileged to have Talon playing at the watering hole, check out their website for more details.
On the back of the incredible success of their award winning ‘Talon – The Best of Eagles’ show; Jonny Miller, Chris Lloyd, Peter Anderson and Keith Buck began a labour of love. ‘Talon – The Acoustic Collection’, has to the guys amazement, taken on a life of its own, in fact, it has become so popular that they have just released a brilliant new acoustic album. 2014 will see the album being backed up with an extensive tour from 6th February – 5th April followed on the 20th July by a seven night cruise on board Fred. Olsen’s largest and newest cruise ship ‘Balmoral’. If you have not seen ‘The Acoustic Collection’ before then you are in for a real treat. Sat on bar stools and armed with no more than their trademark four part vocal harmony, acoustic instruments and laid back banter, Talon will simply leave you spellbound. Come and experience the other side of Talon as they perform a selection of their favourite contemporary acoustic classics from such artists as James Taylor, Simon & Garfunkel, Cat Stevens, CSN&Y, The Everly Bothers, Michael Jackson, The Eagles and many more…

Grammy nominated Reggae legends MUSICAL YOUTH have released their comeback Single ’The Harder They Come’, their first single in 30years. Watch out for tv appearances.
The band were the first black act to appear on MTV, and sang with Donna Summer (Unconditional Love). They also had a song written by Stevie Wonder, Whatcha Talkin ’bout.Their biggest hit being of course ‘ Pass The Dutchie’, which at one point sold 100,000 copies in a day, and went to number 1 in many countries.

Gaz Brookfield- Movember madness

Gaz Brookfield plays us some music for the last day of Movember so we can see the moustache out in style
He is a solo acoustic musician based in Bristol. His songs are instantly accessible every-man tales of life, love and everything else in between.
Since the start of his solo career Brookfield has had the pleasure of gigging and/or touring with Frank Turner, Newton Faulkner, The Levellers, The Ataris, Mike Herrera (MXPX), I Am Kloot, Miles Hunt, Dodgy, Jim Lockey and The Solemn Sun, Dave McPherson, and many more.
In 2010 he won Acoustic Magazine’s Singer Songwriter of the year competition, earning him, among other prizes, a slot on the Big Top stage at the Beautiful Days Festival. This led to loads of other festival appearances over that summer, and bookings for even more in 2011 and 2012, firmly cementing him as a regular on the UK festival circuit.
In December 2011, he became the first and only unsigned solo act to sell out The Fleece, Bristol. He has done this twice more since then.
Gaz recently toured the UK’s O2 Academies with The Levellers, where he broke all the venue records for numbers of albums sold by a support act every night. (Upwards of 60 albums sold per night). This secured him yet more tour dates with them in Europe in May 2013 and the UK in June, July and August 2013.
With over 800 gigs under his belt to date, he continues to tireless tour the UK, proving that the “journeyman” title is more than a simple metaphor.

Joey the Lips gigs are performed as a ‘Show’, rather than solely a rendition of the music. the band enjoys it that way and we hope that comes across to our audiences. It’s now a huge 17 years ‘on the road’ during which the band has played over 1000 gigs throughout the UK and Europe across a huge variety of venues. From TV chat shows to headlining to a 10,000 audience at music festivals. From being booked to support Girls Aloud and Will Young to performing at the British Formula 1 Grand Prix at Silverstone in 2011 and at celebrity weddings, most recently for Eamonn Holmes & Ruth Langsford.

Johnny is an entertainer who likes to get among the people during performance -with a wealth of tales and yarns to spin. Johnny has a natural warmth that makes him popular, to family audiences and adult audiences alike. His clear Cornish voice make every word (and song when singing) easy on the ear, yet still invigorating.
His topics including – The ever changing face of Cornwall, Ladies appliances, Cornish Family life, holiday makers and much much more….have his audiences laughing with tears running down their faces or running for the loo!
As well as providing his entertainment for all manner of Charity’s – Including the Children’s Hospice South West – Heartswell and Various Churches all over the Country. Johnny has more recently Cycled London to Paris for the Meningitis trust and Run The London Marathon twice for Cornwall’s Ambulances (F.L.E.E.T), raising over £10,000.

Lloyd Yates is an extremely talented up and coming musician and we are lucky enough to have him with us on the first Saturday in November, I cannot speak highly enough of this guy and his music, it is completely breathtaking.

Festive weekend on its way
Well this weekend we are kicking off the half term with a bang
Friday 25th October we are holding our Halloween party- This will consist of raffles, Live bands, DJ’s, apple bobbing and much more. All of this is for a good friend of The Watering Hole, Natasha Whiting has dedicated the past few years of her life to the survival of an orphanage on the Thai-Burmese border. She built the home (literally built) with her own money and it now supports the lives of over 45 adorable children. The aim is to provide them with food, shelter and education and to make sure that every penny raised goes directly to them. They all have a story to tell; they are either orphaned or abandoned or have been given into the safe hands of the home. Over the summer there was severe flooding at the shelter and it is almost in ruins, things have become pretty hard…So we wanted to help ….
Sunday 27th October– We are lucky enough to have George Ezra supported by Sam Fender playing 2:30pm on-wards, who are two extremely talented up and coming artists who we cannot wait to have with us.

Lowender Perran-19th October
Celebrating Lowender Perran in style at the watering hole with Black Friday playing, starting at 9:30pm. A festival celebrating Cornwall’s distinctive history of traditional music.
BLACK FRIDAY are a high energy folk and Celtic punk rock band from St Germans, Cornwall.
The music is a lively mix of original songs, traditional Irish jigs, reels and ballads, as well as cover versions by bands like the Pogues, Flogging Molly and the Mahones.
